Gili Islands Informations

Gili in local languange Sasak, means island. In Lombok therea are many gilis. But the most famous among them are the three Gili of Gili air, Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan.

What you might see in Gili's? The three gili's have very beautiful underwater life and best view where you can see the sun rises in the east and sun sets in the west. 

Another interesting in Gilis is these islets very clean, organizing and has many accomodation such hotels, resorts, bars, all you can expect from a global village in Lombok.

As there are no natural basins for catching rain water on any of the three islands, fresh water has to be bought in from the mainland for cooking and drinking. Furthermore since no fresh water on the islands swimming pools and showers use salt water - kind of sticky the first day but everyone adjusts after a day or two. Note: a real advantage of the salt water is that the islands are, for the most part, mosquito-free since mosquitos do not breed in salt water. There is no motorbikes transport allowed on the islands. Only horse carts As well the islands can be very dark at night as there are no street lighting, therefore we recommend that you bring your own torch (flash light) when you go out at night and your hotel is some distance from the restaurant. It is advisable to bring extra supplies as some basic items are in limited supply and prices, while not outrageous, tend to be a bit more expensive.

How to get there

You need to take an outrigger from Bangsal Harbor or from Senggigi Beach Harbor. From Senggigi Beach to Bangsal Harbor takes about 40 minutes by car. There are many small transport companies that promote transport to all the Gili Islands. The posted fare includes transport to take you to Bangsal Harbor and as well as price for a public boat crossing to the Gili Island is Rp. 25.000/person for oneway cost.. For charter boat from bangsal harbor to the Gilis island the price is Rp. 350.000/ group maksimal 10 person. Unfortunately there are no public bemos going directly from Senggigi to Bangsal. Adventurous folks may wish to take a 2.5 hours bemo ride that passes through Ampenan, Gunung Sari and Pemenang before eventually ending up in Bangsal. All vehicles cars, bus and other public transport must stop at bus station a half kilometer from the harbor. This is an effort to spread the benefits of tourism to the horse cart drivers. The price to ride the horse cart to the harbor is Rp. 20,000.- / for the group maksimal 4 person. When you arrive at the entrance to the harbor you will be set upon all manor of people trying to sell you passage to the islands. However the harbor master is located in a large building back 100 meters to the left of the entrance. There you can find the current prices for all boats, "scheduled" departure times and other information as you may need.

Gili Island Transport

On the islands – horse cart are the only source of ground transportation. Rides cost between Rp. 25,000 - Rp. 50,000 to go driving around the island, or you can rent push bike to driving around the island between Rp. 50.000 perday.

Gili Island Snorkeling Tours 5D/4N

Day 01: Arrival in Lombok
Arrival at Selaparang of Mataram Lombok, met by our representative /guide, transferred to hotel. Free at Leisure and after dark having welcome dinner will be host by our guide staff. 

Day 02: GILI NANGGU HONEYMOON ISLAND (B.L.D).

First visit Tawun mini Harbor located in western Lombok to catch the outrigger to snorkeling around Gili Gede, Gili Nanggu, Gili Tangkong, Gili Sudak. 

Luncheon with fresh fish barbeque at Gili Sudak, back to Lombok Island and visit Banyumulek the pottery maker village to see and experience how to make pottery with your own idea as home souvenirs. 

Back to hotel, Dinner will be served in Mataram Local Restaurant. 

Day 03: GILI TRAWANGAN and GILI MENO Tour (B.L.D).
After breakfast at hotel in Senggigi Resort, check out hotel and depart to triple angle islets through west coast of Lombok with stop over at Malimbu beach to enjoy the great scenery of Lombok and Bali Island, get on the traditional outrigger to Gili Air and see the great underwater life's by snorkeling, ride Cidomo around the islet. 

Proceed to Gili Meno to see the cultivation of Lombok Turtles, have discussion with native and releasing Baby Turtles to the sea (Donation proceed here), Having luncheon at Gili Meno, and then continue to Gili Trawangan to have great other snorkeling till before dark. Back to hotel and Dinner will be serving with fresh seafood in Mataram local restaurant. 

Day 04: GILI LAMPU AND GILI LAWANG TOUR (B.L.D).
baby turtle After breakfast at hotel, drive to northern east of Lombok to get on the outrigger at Sambelia shore and sail to Gili Lampu one of Lombok Virgin islet has colorful of corals and fishes does not own by other islets around Lombok. 

Snorkeling with no rush till satisfy. 

Experience fishing with traditional fishing gear. 

Luncheon with self catches fish barbeque. Back to hotel and stop over at Baun Pusuk to feed Macaca (Nice Lombok Monkeys). Free at Leisure at Hotel. 

Day 05: Free at Leisure - Transfer to Airport (B).
Breakfast at hotel, free at leisure at Hotel and transferred to Airport.
